Next we visit the Dong Tam snake farm (the biggest snake farm in the country – they keep over a thousand poisonous snakes to get venom for medical uses.) We can also visit the unique snake museum here and see many animals unique to the Mekong Delta. We will tour the Ap Bac battlefield and visit a Hung long traditional village We stay overnight in Cao Lanh.

Day 3: Cao lanh to Chau doc

Cao Lanh to Chau Doc We take 2 hours to visit the Rung Tram forest in My Long village by boat and trekking. The area is one vast swamp with a beautiful thick canopy of tall trees and vines. It is one of the last natural forests left in the Mekong Delta. During the civil war, the Viet Cong had a base here called Xeo Quit, where top brass VC lived in underground bunkers. But don’t mistake this for another Cu Chi tunnel; it is very, very different. Then we ride on the village roads to cross nearly a thousand rivers, get on and off many ferries to see and experience the daily life of the locals, including their rice paddies, lotus flowers, fruit plantations, fish farms, floating villages, and stilt houses along the rivers. In the afternoon we visit a Charm village to see how locals still make their traditional clothes and keep their traditional culture alive. We will arrive in Chau Doc around 2:00 pm, take a walking tour to see the downtown, stop at the river side for a cold beer, and have dinner on a floating restaurant in the Hau River. We stay overnight in Chau doc

Day 4: Chau doc to Can tho

Chau Doc to Can Tho We start by touring the famous Sam Mountain where you can visit many temples, historical sites, and viewpoints. It’s especially beautiful when you get on top of the mountain, where you can see an amazing view of Cambodia and Vietnam. We then ride along the border road to enjoy the beautiful nature of the Mekong before we stop and visit the Ba Chuc Skull and Crossbones Pagoda, where 3157 people were tortured and killed by Khmer Rouge in 1978. We then continue to our trip by visit Bang Lang bird sanctuary where you can see a million of birds. Check your balancing ability when you cross the monkey bridge – it is amazing to watch the locals traverse these narrow catwalks with bicycles, and a heavy load balanced between their shoulders on bamboo pole! We will learn more about Cham architecture and Buddhist philosophy when we visit their colorful pagoda. We arrive in Can Tho around 3:00 pm, enough time to relax in front of the water and stay overnight there.
